Our client came to us with a cramped, dark kitchen with compromised dining space, disconnected from garden and a need for a second bathroom in their family home.

This side return and rear extension bucked the trend by choosing not to maximise floor space but to optimise light. We inset the wall to create just enough space in the kitchen area and in doing so allowed for a side window onto small courtyard with light from above filtering into the kitchen below. Toward the rear, the extension becomes wider and features a slot window to bring sunlight into an otherwise north facing space.
